It's All In the Details | Virginia Wedding Photographer

Think of the last wedding you attended, preferably not your own since, you know, you’re all over the place on your own special day. Whether you walked into an old cathedral, a rustic barn, or a glamorous restaurant, you take in the scene that the couple has set before you. Each couple is so beautifully unique, and one of my favorite parts is walking in for the first time when everything is set up.

Ambiance is created through careful planning of details. Even a simple wedding can have ornate details while still maintaining the consistency of simplicity and flow. Your friends, the newlyweds, have put in a lot of thought to the tiny details to create an ambiance that fully envelops you into their style, story, and personalities.

Capturing these details for each bride is one of my biggest pleasures. Detail shots are planned around each couple’s timeline, which can be as unique as they are. The designers, florists, bakers, cooks, event planners, wedding planners, calligraphers all put a lot of time, effort, love and imagination into their work for your big day.

Amongst everyone’s favorites are the ring shots. We wanna see your bling!! No, you don’t have to have a 4 carat Tiffany’s diamond ring to show off. It’s the love and the story that makes the diamond shine. I often ask brides to bring their invitations and stationary used for their invitations so I can take detailed shots of those as well while everyone is enjoying their food.

I love it when a bride and groom exchange gifts before the ceremony!! When he’s showing off a beautiful new watch with an engraving on the back, she’s tearing up at a handwritten love letter he wrote her… the meaning and sentiment builds up for that moment down the aisle.

Your story is reflected in the types of details you choose, and I love putting those pieces together to capture your unique story.
